Building Rep Basics: October 7, 2025
For new and returning building reps, this training will focus on the foundations of serving as an effective building representative. Topics will include: key contract provisions, role on the Faculty Council, handling member concerns, and relationship with administration.
Grievances & Contract Enforcement: November 6, 2025
This session will take a deep dive into the TAAAC and SAAAAC contracts and grievance procedures. Topics will include: identifying and assessing grievances, legal protections and limitations, grievance writing, holding “informal” grievance meetings with building admin.
Building Rep Advocacy and Representation: February 26, 2026
Representing and advocating for your colleagues is perhaps the most important aspect of being an effective building rep. This session will cover: legal status of building reps, dealing with bully bosses, best practices for meeting with supervisors, “Weingarten” rights.
Organizing & Building your Worksite Team: April 16, 2026
Not every problem can be solved through strong advocacy – sometimes we need to organize! This session will focus on: what to do when something is wrong but not a grievance, identifying other leaders in your building, building a worksite organizing team, taking direct action against management.
