Our top advocacy priorities at this time are:
At this stage, it is critical that we convey to the County Executive and the County Council the importance of funding Dr. Bedell’s budget, with whatever additions the Board of Education makes. If you are able, please sign up to testify at one of the County Executive’s remaining two in-person town halls or the virtual/Spanish language town hall. Attendees who sign up will each have two minutes to speak. County Executive's Upcoming FY2027 Budget Town Halls
- Funding for all positions that Dr. Bedell’s has requested to support students, including:
- 82.2 special educators which includes 8 speech language pathologists, early intervention specialists, behavior techs, TAs, and TSAs
- 10 English language development teachers
- 2 school counselors
- 1 school psychologist
- 1 social worker
- 1 pupil personnel worker
- Increased pay for TSAs, who are among the lowest paid in the system, but care for some of our most vulnerable students.

Mutual Aid Support for Jenny Lind Elementary in Minneapolis, Minnesota
This is our opportunity to work together to provide for one another’s immediate survival, because we know that the systems we are currently living under are not sufficient. We know that there are folks in Anne Arundel County who need aid too; we and many of you are already participating locally. We hope that our partnership with the mutual aid network at Jenny Lind Elementary School will not only help its families, but also help TAAAC to learn more about school-based mutual aid and enable us to meet the moment when this kind of aid becomes necessary in Anne Arundel on an even larger scale.
Already, people from all over the country have donated $22,000 to families at Jenny Lind, almost all of which has already been distributed. To support these families through February, the community predicts a need of an additional $14,000. If you aren’t able to contribute directly, consider sharing graphics on your social media.Click here to download and share.

As a direct response to the needs expressed by students, educators, and families in Minnesota, TAAAC is partnering with a parent organizer at Jenny Lind Elementary school in Minneapolis, where 50 of the school’s approximately 250 families have been directly affected by ICE’s presence in the city. 12 of those families are completely locked down in fear of potentially dangerous contact with ICE agents, and do not leave their homes at all—therefore, the children cannot attend school, and the adults cannot work to earn money.
