Collectively, we negotiate the contract for certificated employees, and have full time union staff to help support and represent you if you need.

Join the Sick Leave Bank
Open enrollment for the Sick Leave Bank started July 1! By donating just 1/2 of a sick day, you can receive up to 100 days to protect your pay, benefits, and tenure in the case of an emergency.
Typically, to be a member of the Sick Leave Bank, you must donate 1 day of sick leave each year. Since the SLB is in a healthy state and will be solvent going into next year, the committee decided to reduce the contributions members need to give for next year. Additionally, the committee updated some of the rules for submitting paperwork: Original Sick Leave Bank request forms may be emailed directly from the administrator who signs the forms to the TAAAC Office. Also, the Medical Information Form may be faxed or emailed directly from the doctor's office to the TAAAC office. A change from last year also remains which is that SLB can be used for both physical and mental health reasons.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If I’m transferring, do I get to transfer my leave days to AACPS?
- If you are transferring from out of state, your accumulated leave days do not follow you.
- If you are transferring from within Maryland, COMAR states you are eligible to transfer up to 100 days of leave from your previous county.
- If you are transferring from Montgomery County specifically, your previous contract allowed you to be paid out for a portion of your days. For the remaining balance, you are eligible to transfer all remaining days.
