Are you interested in advocating for more sustainable schools? Do you want to learn about educational resources to bring environmental justice into your classroom? What questions do you have about recycling in AACPS?

You are in the right place! This page is dedicated to the work conducted by the TAAAC Green Committee, which has the mission to make recommendations to adopt eco-friendly practices within our union. As environmental stewards, we will promote environmental literacy and sustainability while empowering educators to advocate for a greener, healthier future for our schools and communities. Recycling in AACPS

On November 19, 2024, the TAAAC Green Committee held a speaker series event with Brian Wells and Anna Youngk at Arlington Echo designed as an opportunity for TAAAC members to earn professional development credits toward their school's Green School certification. Throughout the training, Anna and Brian discussed what is recyclable in AACPS, how we can help our students and colleagues recycle throughout our school system and examples of schools that are successful, and how that might differ from what is recyclable throughout Anne Arundel County!

Have you ever considered how quickly runners go through running shoes? We have the answer for you. It’s about 300 to 500 miles? For perspective, running 20 miles a week is about 15 to 25 weeks of use. If these items end up in landfills, it does a lot of damage to life on our planet.

We advocate for equitable, quality education for all students in Anne Arundel County Public Schools. TAAAC is a union of educators, representing all Unit 1 employees in the Anne Arundel County Public School System.
