This solidarity school is an opportunity to increase your political education and skills as we build a network of labor unions and community organizations in Anne Arundel County as part of the May Day Strong movement. Together, we are putting workers over billionaires, fighting against authoritarianism, and envisioning a better, more inclusive and more sustainable future.

What to Expect
SATURDAY, JAN 31 from 8:30 to 5 pm
- A grounding of the current political landscape — rising authoritarianism, deep wealth inequality, and our collective responsibility to take action in this moment
- Understanding the importance of labor-community organization alignment for success in this political moment
- Practicing organizing conversations that help our neighbors and co-workers understand what is currently at stake and why they must take action in this moment
- Developing a plan for your particular union or community group to be prepared for 2026 May Day action
NOTE: a light breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be served from 8:30-9:00am. The training will begin at 9:00am.
The day of training will include:
- A grounding of the current political landscape — rising authoritarianism, deep inequality, and our collective assignment.
- Understanding what base building is and why it is essential to our path to power for working people.
- Practicing organizing conversations that help our neighbors and co-workers understand and activate when redlines are crossed.
- Planning winning campaigns through power analysis and escalation.
- Group escalation planning sessions
We are looking for 10 members per organization to help plan our collective actions toward May Day.
