From Your TAAAC President: One action to support Educators

Jan 11, 2023

At the Legislative Happy Hour earlier this month, the newly elected Delegate Andrew Pruski (a former PGCEA member and Anne Arundel County Councilmember), said all legislators should focus on three things when it comes to educators: recruit, retain, and respect.

The Board of Education needs to hear from you about what they should do to recruit more qualified educators, retain the experienced educators we already have, and respect you as the professionals you are!

Superintendent Dr. Bedell has prioritized ensuring all AACPS employees have a competitive salary and positive working conditions by proposing a 6% COLA and one step. Do you think this is enough? What can be improved? They want to hear from you!

The next step of the budget process is the Board of Education Budget Hearing on Tuesday, January 24 at Old Mill High School. This is an opportunity to speak openly to our leaders about our priorities. RSVP here if you want to attend in solidarity or speak.

Remember: You are TAAAC, so if you are passionate about anything from Triple-E equity, to redistricting, to Blueprint funding, now is your opportunity to make your voice heard.
