ACTION ITEMS
- Our bargaining team declared impasse this week. We have been here many times before. This time, it is because AACPS insists on increasing healthcare costs by shifting 5% of their responsibility to the backs our members. This will cost our members, on average, over $1000 per year. That is unacceptable, especially when AACPS is unwilling to commit to any wage increases to offset these increased costs. Our bargaining team is asking TAAAC members to sign this majority petition by the end of the school year to show that we are united in demanding the Board of Education to settle a fair contract with high wages and low health insurance changes. ASK 50% of your school to sign this by the end of the school year!
10-minute Meeting
- With the Primary Election on Tuesday, there are a few final opportunities to help elect pro-public education candidates. Click here to sign up for an apple ballot shift, door knocking on May 11, or phone banking on May 13.
NEXT MONTH
June 5 is our last RA of the year. We need to make quorum because we will vote on the following:
- Position on the Board of Education policy JU
- Bylaw amendment on tenure eligibility for TAAAC Office
Tribute to Geoff Turk
It is with a heavy heart that we share of the passing of Geoff Turk. Husband to Gail Turk (teacher and TAAAC member at Crofton Middle), parent of an AACPS student, Teacher at Arundel High School, and TAAAC Board of Director, Geoff’s passing is a shock and loss for our whole community.
TAAAC will host a grief counselor at our office (2521 Riva Road, Suite L-7 in the back lot, Annapolis, MD 21401) on May 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
