The Presidents of the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County, Association of Educational Leaders, and Secretaries and Assistants Association of Anne Arundel County released the following statement in reaction to the latest update from Superintendent Dr. George Arlotto and the Board of Education regarding safety protocol:
“In light of rising cases of COVID-19 in Anne Arundel County and throughout the country, we fully supports the recent staff and AACPS community-wide announcement mandating indoor masking throughout our school system. Dr. Arlotto and the BOE once again reaffirmed, in consultation with Dr. Kalyanaraman, that science will lead safety decision making for students, all school staff, and families in Anne Arundel County.
“These mitigation strategies, in addition to social distancing, hand washing, adequate ventilation, and vaccines, together will ensure safe, equitable, and in-person instruction for all students.
“Teachers, school-based administrators, coordinators, secretaries, custodians, and all other support staff have proven resilient, essential members of our school communities throughout the pandemic. The safety of everyone is our top priority. We will continue to advocate for safety and access to the world-class learning and work environments we all deserve.”
