Weekly Update: New Logo

Sep 29, 2021

Check out our new logo! In celebration of our 100th anniversary, we are committed to embodying our vision: Empowered Educators, Successful Students, Connected Communities. This means members are taking steps to ensuring the world class learning and working conditions our students and peers deserve. When we are unified, we can make a difference for our entire school community.

With 100% of our school sites experiencing cases of COVID-19 in students or staff, it’s more important now than ever for us to know our rights when it comes to safe and healthy work conditions. On September 29, we’re hosting our second Safety Training in partnership with SAAAAC, and PTA.

Along with ensuring our students and fellow educators are safe in our buildings, our workload must also be our priority. Yesterday, our Executive Director and I met with AACPS to raise the many issues and concerns members have described related to Brightspace transition. We will work with AACPS to share out a clarifying document this week including instructional posting expectations across grade levels and for our special educators. This won’t be a perfect fix, but it should provide clarity around resources for issues and better explain expectations. It is our understanding this communication will also be sent to administrators to support consistency across AACPS.
