Long-Term Care Insurance
The Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County now sponsors a new long-term care insurance program. Long-term care insurance will pay for care should you become disabled due to accident, injury, illness, or aging. It pays for the care to help you stay in your home and help you with everyday activities like bathing, dressing, or doing chores around the home.
- Offering long-term care insurance to TAAAC members and their families with a members’ discount.
- Helping members protect their hard-earned assets.
- Giving members a way to remain in control of their healthcare choices.
- Providing members with peace-of-mind.
Why long-term care insurance? Is long-term care insurance the right thing for you? The national 3 in 4 Need More campaign (3in4needmore.com), will tell you that 3 out of every 4 people over the age of 65 need more then just health insurance. Health insurance does not cover the overwhelming majority of long-term care expenses, and BC/BS, HMOs, Tricare, and Medicare are all health insurance. Additionally, 80% of long-term care takes place at home, in the community, and/or in group living situations such as assisted living facilities. Although certainly a long-term care scenario, this is not just nursing home insurance.
At any time any one of us can have a life-changing event due to illness or accident. As we age health conditions can change or manifest themselves in ways we never thought would impact us. Also, 40% of long-term care services are received by people 18 to 65 years of age. This is not just for “seniors.” Not only are we living longer, but medical science has evolved to where we are living with certain diseases or medical conditions for years beyond what we would have just 15 to 20 years ago.
This TAAAC sponsored long-term care insurance has features that allows policies to be fashioned to fit the needs of each individual or couple. Besides the discount you get for being an TAAAC member, there are also discounts available to couples/partners, for just being married, for two-person households, and for preferred health.
